Outline
Sangha Extra event - 31st January, 1.30pmA visit to the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Belford Road to see “The Islanders - an Introduction”, by Charles Avery. It is a “work-in-progress” that describes in drawings, paintings, sculptures, installations and text the topology and cosmology of an imaginary island. It is Free Admission to this exhibition.
From Paul’s personal observation:
“Love it or hate it, you’ll not have seen anything like it. It’s almost like a walk-around illustrated book, with scores of drawings, sculptures etc, describing the life, myths gods and strange animals of this imaginary place. Characters gradually become familiar, popping up in several pictures. There are conundrums and paradoxes: it’s philosophical, spiritual and sometimes just plain ‘odd’… then there’s the life-size stuffed “Ridable” and the eternity cabinet where you can peek into and… well, it’s eternal!
Hopefully time for coffee and a chat afterwards.
