The courses we run at the Edinburgh Buddhist Centre include some basic instruction in Mindfulness alongside other spiritual skills. Some members of our Sangha also run more specialist courses, however, in Mindfulness Based Stress and Pain Management.
Stress and Pain Management Mindfulness courses are non-religious, systematic and manualised 8 weeks training Courses. They are mainly based on mindfulness as an approach to help deal with physical and mental stress.
The mindfulness courses are offered by teachers who are trained or training in mindfulness based interventions and focus paricularly on dealing with stress and anxiety both physical and mental.
What is Mindfulness Meditation?
Mindfulness is a particular way of paying attention on purpose, in the present moment and without judgement” (Jon Kabat-Zinn)
“Meditation is a creative process aimed at cultivating kindly awareness and positive emotions in all activities of daily life” So, mindfulness meditation is about bringing non-judgemental awareness, loving kindness, openness and sensitivity to what is going on within us and around us, helping us bringing more focus, better health and deeper relaxation in our everyday life allowing us to embrace the present moment we have in order to live creatively and spontaneously accepting ourselves and others as best as we can.
